international bagpipe festival Strakonice

22nd - 25th August 2024

ABOUT FESTIVAL

The festival is one of the most important folklore festivals in the world in terms of its scope and quality. Each year of the festival is an opportunity to meet and get to know each other’s ensembles and individuals who present bagpipes. The performers are united by their love of tradition and folk art. For the 25th time, bagpipers and bagpipe ensembles from various countries of the world will gather in Strakonice to play, sing, dance and together create the International Bagpipe Festival. The audience will have the opportunity to admire the beauty and diversity of the costumes and musical and dance traditions of different nations. Over time, the Bagpipe Festival has become one of the main pillars of cultural events in Strakonice and plays an irreplaceable role in the presentation of our town and Czech folklore throughout the world.

INTERNATIONAL BAGPIPE FESTIVAL, short IBF (in czech MDF) is organized by Municipal Cultural Centre of Strakonice, the city of Strakonice, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and South Bohemian Region under the auspices of President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel and Minister of Culture Martin Baxa.
